The Senior Accounting & Reporting Accountant is responsible for the monthly accounting and internal reporting under US GAAP, annual reporting under local GAAP, reporting for tax compliance and statistical or other reporting as required for several smaller group companies located in Central European Region, primarily in Switzerland and Germany as well as several accounting activities across all of the entities in the region or EMEA. The Senior Accounting & Reporting Accountant will work closely with other regional controllership teams, as well as FP&A, Treasury, Internal Audit and Tax teams in the region or in Corporate HQ. The role will also be the main point of contact for external auditors for the entities in its remit. An important element of the role is coordinating different stakeholders within Business units in-country, and in organizations across EMEA as well as with EMEA management.
How You’ll make an impact:
- Understand the operations of the entities and understand the business of Bio-Rad.
- Ensure the timely and accurate monthly accounting, closing and internal reporting in accordance with policies, closing schedule and company guidelines.
- Ensure timely and accurate statutory & tax filings are made for several smaller entities in the region including annual returns, direct tax returns and other relevant returns.
- Planning and completion of statutory audits and be the main point of contact to liaise with external auditors and accounting providers for some smaller entities as well as working under the guidance of the Accounting & Reporting Manager on other larger entities in the region. Deal with any queries from the Auditors or providers.
- Maintain USGAAP to local GAAP reconciliations and ensure proper documentation is maintained with regards to any timing and/or permanent differences.
- Apply expert knowledge of financial concepts and principles to Regulatory Reporting and clearly document any conclusions reached in memo’s or otherwise.
- Pro-actively propose solutions to further enhance processes.
- Support Corporate income tax audits as they occur in the countries in the region.
- Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.Customers & Relationships:
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with Business Partners and other (Finance) Functions. Be collaborative and proactive in this relationship.
- Support Finance teams to understand their systems, processes, and business gaps.
What You’ll bring:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in economics or business administration (or International equivalent) with a minimum of 5-7 years accounting experience in an international multi national company or in Big 4 accounting firm or a combination.
- The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with ability to work flexibly in an ever- changing work environment with good excel skills.
- Accounting/control background, good understanding of US GAAP and one or more statutory GAAP in EMEA.
- Proven track record of identifying and remediating problems and solving issues. Lean or 6-sigma mentality.
- Knowledge of SAP, Power-BI, Blackline, OneSource or similar
- Good written and verbal English language skills essential, another European language pre
- Team player who is willing to work flexibly to assist fellow team members in busy periods.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong analytical skill and works on risk based approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with teams from different departments and different levels.
