Overview:
The incumbent is to coordinate and provide EH&S professional service and advice to ensure regulatory compliance for K-OSHA, K-REACH, K-CCA and other EH&S related regulations.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Chemical Regulatory Compliance (K-CCA, K-REACH, SDS/GHS, MSDS)
- Hold the appointment of Hazardous Chemical Substance Supervisor and fulfil all associated regulatory responsibilities; complete Chemical Substance Manager Training bi-annually as required
- Ensure Chemical Control Act (K-CCA) compliance: chemical declarations, Letters of Confirmation (LoC), hazardous substance business notifications (brokerage and reagent sales), import notifications (restricted, human hazardous, permission-subject, prohibited, accident-preparedness substances), statistical surveys, performance reporting, and chemical inventory documentation management and retention
- Ensure K-REACH compliance for registration and notification of chemical substances, including tonnage verification for manufacturing-use substances
- Coordinate SDS requirements with manufacturers, submit to KOSHA, and support Hazard/Risk Investigation including non-phase-in substance investigative reports; support approval of Non-Disclosure of MSDS where necessary
- Coordinate GHS label compliance with 3PL and relevant functions; oversee chemical inventory control and monitor regulatory updates; coordinate all OSH Act, K-REACH, and Chemical Control Act activities via third-party agency; support customer requests related to chemical acts
- Assist 3PL DC with hazardous chemical substance handling facilities installation, periodic and occasional inspections
Occupational Safety & Health (K-OSHA Compliance, Risk Assessment, Audits & Incident Investigation)
- Conduct employee exposure assessments; evaluate risks and hazards with operations staff; identify and implement mitigation plans; provide recommendations on potential operational hazards
- Conduct accident investigations using EHS management tools (e.g., Benchmark); coordinate EH&S audits; track corrective actions and complete all required documentation
- Perform EH&S assessments for employees, external vendors, and intradepartmental operations; may recommend appropriate safety equipment and systems, including capital expenditure items; may make recommendations to cease operations based on defined practices and policies
EHS Program Implementation, Training & Standard Operating Procedures
- Implement EH&S programs applicable to Korea operations; identify new training needs and develop new EH&S training programs as necessary
- Create new Standard Operating Procedures related to environmental and safety management; deliver other relevant assignments given by direct manager to support and strengthen EHS management programs
- Lead the activities of the Fire, Medical Emergency Response Team, and Spill Response Team; respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours as required
- Waste Management & Environmental Regulatory Submissions
- Lead efforts in hazardous and toxic industrial waste management; develop and implement strategies for waste reduction, waste reuse, and recycling in compliance with Korean environmental regulations
- Lead Korean regulatory submission efforts for new emission sources, new facilities, and new environmental requirements
- Support the sustainability program requirements
Product Safety Management & Customer Support
- Support and coordinate regional Product Safety management under supervision of manager and Global Product Safety lead; support customer requests related to chemical and product safety regulations
Other EHS assignments & General EHS Management
- Deliver other relevant assignments given by direct manager as appropriate to support and strengthen EHS management programs
What You Bring:

- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in a technical field, including EH&S, ergonomics, biology, chemistry, or engineering
- Minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Completed chemical related courses at a junior college or higher educational institution under the Higher Education Act and has completed at least 32 hours of hazardous chemical safety training pursuant to Article 33 of the Act
- Experience with completing and submitting EH&S-related reports to appropriate regulatory agencies
- Experience working with multiple levels of authority and responsibility
- Experienced at least 3 years in chemical handling facilities
- Professional Engineer in Chemical Safety, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Risk Management, Chemical Analysis, Industrial Safety, Gas, Water Quality Environment, Air Environment, Waste Treatment, or Industrial Hygiene Management
- Able to respond after normal business hours to emergency situations
- Advanced analytical and decision-making skills including the ability to apply scientific reasoning to identify potential problems and associated solutions
- Interpersonal communication skills, including tact, negotiation, and persuasion
- Verbal and written communication skills, including documentation of activities in correspondence to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and programs
- Time management, multitasking, problem solving, leadership, and organization skills
- Exposure to risk assessment and controls strategies a plus
