  • Overview

    The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing Global Sourcing Programs to maximize how the company does business by sourcing quality suppliers through the RFP process, negotiating low cost contracts and managing supplier relationships for Indirect commodities across multiple administrative locations and manufacturing plants in order to optimize supply chain efficiency.  Focus will be on Global Indirect Spend.  Experience in Information Technology and/or Logistics is desired.

    Responsibilities

    • Source suppliers for high visible high impact commodities using the RFP process.
    • Negotiate large volume / large impact supplier agreements.
    • Identify value improvement opportunities within assigned commodities.
    • Implement procurement strategies that help achieve Global Supply Chain goals.
    • Manage supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity management and cost/quality improvements.
    • Conduct supplier reviews, generate and deliver supplier performance report cards and communicate outcome to supplier and internal stakeholders.
    • Assist in implementation of regional strategies.
    • Assess supply chain risks and work with Management to develop mitigation plans.
    • Represent Procurement on cross functional project teams.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
    • 15+ years’ experience in Procurement with at least 5 years in Supply Assurance Buying and 5 years in Demand Buying, Materials Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience sourcing vendors through a RFP process and negotiating vendor contracts.
    • Act as a leader and project manager for various supply chain initiatives, RFP's and supply optimization projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.  This is not a training or development position.
    • Coursework towards CPM and/or CPIM certification is preferred.
    • Full knowledge and application of the principles and theories of procurement and supply chain.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
    • Strong oral and written communication, confident negotiator, and strong multitasking and organizational skills.
    • This position requires 10-20% international and domestic travel.
