    This position will lead internal and external global teams to work with Bio-Rad colleagues worldwide to manage and deliver Product Lifecycle Management ("PLM") business processes.  This position will be responsible for managing the roll out of Bio-Rad’s SAP PLM system and related systems (such as LIMS/ELN and Labeling), as well as influencing key peripheral areas such as PTP, MDM governance, PTM, Business Analytics.  Management and resolution of Incidents, partner with Global Process Owners, R&D and GSC stakeholders and the NPI / PLM steering committee to prioritize projects and ERP enhancements for the PLM process area.  The position requires a well-rounded global leader with PLM business principles, processes and practices background, is analytical and organized with a strong business acumen & vision, demonstrated working knowledge of process design, strong management skills, and the ability to be hands-on and a desire to “dive into the details.”  The position will ensure that the processes are in alignment with the company’s strategic initiatives and that the solutions and processes developed enable the realization of those initiatives.


    The position requires a PLM IT Manager that is a well-rounded leader, understands the importance and value of leading a global team, is analytical with strong business knowledge and vision, has a demonstrated working knowledge of industry best processes and practices, strong management skills, and the ability to be hands-on with a desire to “dive into the details”, as needed.  Provides effective leadership to the team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. This position will lead internal and external global teams to work with Bio-Rad colleagues worldwide to manage and deliver PLM business processes.  This position will be responsible for managing the enhancement and roll out of Bio-Rad’s SAP PLM system and related systems, management and resolution of Incidents, partner with Global Process Owners to prioritize projects and ERP enhancements for the MPLM process area.


    • The position will focus on the global aspects of the Product Lifecycle Management processes; below are a few of major business processes areas:
      • Engineering Change Management Process.
      • Document Management.
      • Recipe Development.
      • CAD Integration (Mechanical / Electrical).
      • Product Labeling.
      • Lab Information Management Systems ("LIMS") and Electronic Lab Notebook ("ELN").
      • Materials Master Data Management/ Governance.
    • Work with Bio-Rad subject matter experts and stakeholders globally to:
      • Analyze and document current and future business needs.
      • Provide IT leadership to PLM team.
      • Ensure future business processes satisfy the intent.
      • Lead the configuration for the business processes.
      • Liaison working cross-functionally with other business teams to ensure business processes operate at their optimum efficiency.
      • Identify and manage all data integrations to/from legacy applications.
      • Manage data conversion sources from legacy applications.
      • Lead team ensuring systems are built for intended use.
      • Maintain system integrity through the traceability of requirements to delivery.
      • Document system configuration.
    • Partner with global business process owners to:
      • Manage PLM ServiceNow queue and assign work.
      • Establish roadmap of projects and enhancements for the PLM domain.
      • Prioritize related enhancements.
    • The position must utilize a broad business and IT perspective and work effectively with multiple areas of the organization, including:
      • Partnering with Global Process Owners.
      • Other process area managers on the ERP and IT team.
      • Key managers and stakeholders throughout the company.
      • External consultants and offshore support team.


    • Experience with systems implementation and/or process transformation.
    • The candidate must have experience documenting processes “as is” through process maps and SOP’s and have a working knowledge of business process decomposition techniques.
    • The candidate must be able to design processes and sub-processes and to think through the implications of those designs.
    • Understanding how these processes provide Bio-Rad competitive advantages or operational efficiencies is essential.
    • Direct experience in supporting “PLM” and associated functions in R&D and Supply Chain principles, processes and practices along with system integrations supporting these business functions.
    • Five (5) plus years’ experience in a personnel management role, with a strong record of building and managing teams through leadership, direction, coaching and mentoring.
    • Relevant Life Science industry experience with experience with SOX and GxP is highly desired.
    • Provide effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience.
    • A high level of knowledge regarding Bio-Rad’s internal processes and stakeholders.
    • Sound business and IT acumen.
    • A “Project Management” mindset for working in a high paced “Design, Build, Test, Implement” environment.
    • Proven experience leading global teams with a demonstrated ability to work under time constraints while meeting critical milestones.
    • Proven leader that builds and fosters global open working team environments.
    • Experience with international business processes and relationships a strong plus.


    • Direct Bio-Rad employee management and leadership of 4-6 employees in North America and management of 3-5 external consultants.
    • Work activities and distribution.
    • 25% – Team Leadership: Manage day-to-day team activities, Personnel Development and Performance Management.
    • 40% – Strategic Project & Program Management: Lead major activities related to SAP / Mariposa projects, as well as, significant business impact enhancements.
    • 25 % – Business Relationship Management: Partner with key Executive and Director level leaders within the R&D and Supply Chain functions globally in order to prioritize and influence roadmap activities and align program objectives.
    • 10% – Incident and Request escalation.


    • Direct responsibility for a department budget of $1M annually.
    • Oversees and approves the external consultant budget of $0.5M - 1M annually.
    • This person must:

    • Ability to travel on average 30%, including international, with the ability to travel extensively as project needs require.
    • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate closely with others to accomplish business objectives.
