    Bio-Rad's Global Molding Organization Santa Rosa site is looking for a Plastics Molding Process Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of new and existing injection molding processes for leading edge products and supporting sustaining engineering. 


    The main responsibility is to oversee all the molding processes for the molding production lines, institute process monitoring and successfully develop and complete continuous improvements with focus on quality and compliance. 


    The role will also support the commissioning of new production lines, partnering with the tooling and production team to achieve optimum production readiness for product launch.

    • Defines process development methods, and drives DOE definition.
    • Develops process metrics and control parameters to be utilized for control of all production.
    • Systematically optimize processes, equipment and mold configurations for new and existing molds.
    • Documentation of operating procedures for injection molding and automation systems.
    • Conduct systematic analysis to troubleshoot problems.
    • Experience in injection molding mold setup and removal.
    • Ancillary equipment setup, including but not limited to, mold temperature controllers, EOAT, automation, dryers, conveyors, etc.
    • Perform startup and shutdown of injection molding machines and equipment.
    • Assist Maintenance Technicians with machine and mold repairs as needed.


    • Knowledge of polymer materials and process interactions and characterization approaches to quantify process materials interactions.
    • Strong knowledge of Scientific Molding Methodologies.
    • Ability to demonstrate the utilization of statistical concepts and applications for process development and improvements.
    • Experience and ability to operate machining equipment (mills, lathes, etc.) forklifts, overhead cranes, or applicable equipment utilized in the manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with Arburg injection molding machines is a plus.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Self-starter, ability to complete projects on-time without daily management, Accurate and detail oriented.
    • Knowledge and practical application of Problem Solving / Process Improvement analysis, tools and techniques.
    • Project management and team work skills.
    • Experience with process qualification (IQ,OQ,PQ).
    • Applied knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts (Lean Six Sigma) and standardized work.
    • Exceptional computer skills, including P.C. knowledge and current technology software familiarity.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to share knowledge with others and train colleagues.
    • Close team building and training will be required with Process Technicians, Mold Technicians, Team Leaders, the Quality Manager, Engineering, Material Handlers, and Operators.
    • 5 plus years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • BS in Engineering, Polymer Science, or Closely-related discipline.
