    Bio-Rad’s Digital Biology Group is a multidisciplinary team developing products using our Droplet DigitalTM technology that are having a large impact in both research and healthcare. Every day, scientists and clinicians around the world use our ddPCRTM and ddSEQTM NGS sample prep systems to make new discoveries, and are revolutionizing clinical decisions with break-through liquid biopsy applications. We’re looking for an energetic and talented Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team.


    You will lead our electrical engineering team and manage a group of approx. 8 electrical, firmware and optical engineers. You’ll report directly to the head of engineering.     • Effectively direct, influence, motivate and supervise team members, including goal setting, performance reviews, technical mentorship and continuous career development.
    • Effectively collaborate with manufacturing during the transfer of new products as well as post launch during sustaining development activities.
    • Drives design for manufacturability and test strategies.
    • Provide technical leadership for the electrical and firmware aspects of droplet microfluidic systems, including high-level design and architecture decisions.
    • Work closely with colleagues to plan and define future instrumentation and chemistry systems.
    • As a member of Engineering leadership, contribute to decisions and actions that define our culture.
    • Work closely within our multidisciplinary team, where you will interface with other instrument functional teams, project management, biology, software, bioinformatics, marketing, quality/regulatory and others.
    • Provide technical knowledge of electrical, electronic and firmware engineering principles and their application to developing cost-effective, reliable and high-quality instrument systems.
    • Reviews and analyzes product requirements, and articulates and documents electrical and firmware system requirements and functions.
    • Participates or leads Cross-Functional Teams in efforts relating to electrical and firmware requirements definition, and functional decomposition, electrical system architecture definition, modeling, and compliance including verification plans and reports.
    • Maintains extensive knowledge of state-of-the-art principles, theories and practices around Electrical, Electronic and Firware engineering related activities.
    • Identifies and recommends long term tools, standards and methods to drive continual Electrical, Electronic and FIrmware Engineering improvement.


    • BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. MS desirable.
    • Training in Design for Excellence principals preferred. DFSS Green Belt certification is desirable.
    • 15 years’ experience in the engineering/development of complex systems, preferably medical devices.
    • 8 years’ supervisory or project leader experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
    • IVD experience, QSR/ISO regulations & standards.
