  • Overview

    Position Summary

    The functions of Buyer are:

    • Purchasing of instruments/consumables – (SIC) for Singapore & SEA Countries
    • Purchasing of Service parts as per agreed levels
    • Lot Reservation Management
    • Process & maintain Supplier back order reports - weekly
    • Management of ‘goods in transit’ from Suppliers


    Main Responsibilities


    1. Purchasing of instruments/consumables (weekly) using the Manage Statistical Inventory Control (SIC) Order system for Singapore,

    • Raise/place Bio-Rad P/O on Suppliers as per ROP/Business requirement
    • Check and confirm Order Acknowledgement
    • Monitor/manage goods in transit via shipping documents and pre –alerts
    • Liaise with W/H Manager ETA’s for shipments
    • Generate suppliers back order report for Singapore/SEA – report to contain (i) Accurate ETA into Bio-Rad warehouses, (ii) Supply issues eg. out of stocks, manufacturing delays
    • Supplier back order report to be emailed weekly to Customer Service, Product Managers, Account Managers

    2. Lot Reservation Management:

    • Consolidate reserves for Singapore / SEA (weekly)
    • Run Re-Order by Lot Report
    • Generate order for required Reserves on the US
    • Raise/place Bio-Rad P/O on Suppliers as per ROP/Business requirement
    • Check and confirm Order Acknowledgement

    3. ADHOC Duties

    • Local purchasing as required
    • BAAN testing for IT
    • SAP to BAAN testing


    Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    • Tertiary qualification in business or equivalent
    • Relevant Purchasing/Procurement qualifications
    • At least 3 years experience in Purchasing/Procurement position
    • Good knowledge of office procedures and commercial practices
    • Good knowledge of Quality Systems and procedures
    • Life Science/Clinical Diagnostics Industry knowledge is highly desirable
    • Experience in a supply chain environment
    • Knowledge of procurement concepts and processes
    • Analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication, written & verbal, and interpersonal skills
    • Proven ability to build and maintain business relationships
    • Change management and customer service skills
    • Negotiation skills
    • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
