    Bio-Rad is looking for a Cloud Operations Leader to support its global organization and strategy to build, deploy, operate, scale and maintain company-wide platforms in a cloud first methodology. The objective of the role is to present a proactive approach to cloud solutions providing reliability and uptime appropriate to business service needs and a fast rate of improvement while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity, cost, and performance. This individual will also ensure the Cloud Platform & Services are designed and implemented to support Private and Public infrastructure initiatives which are aligned with the overall business priorities using industry best practices.

    Responsibilities

    • Provision, Operate and Migrate workloads to and in the cloud.
    • Demonstrate hands-on knowledge of Private and Public Cloud Computing. Designing, provisioning and administration using best practices for enterprise customer across multiple cloud services (AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud).
    • Support and maintain global application development, test, disaster recovery, and production environments.
    • As a domain expert, you’ll own operations and administration of our production cloud platforms to ensure reliability, recoverability and optimum performance regardless of platform or geographical location.
    • Manage and Mentor new and existing staff on cloud computing best practices and technology to drive cloud adoption.
    • Provisioning and de-provisioning public cloud provider accounts and subscriptions for internal customers.  Ensure the highest level of uptime and Quality of Service (QoS) for our customers through operational excellence.
    • Streamlining standard operating procedures through automation. Work with Vendor Management Organization to build a transparent framework to allocate usage costs and proper metering of cloud consumption services.
    • Consistently improve performance and reliability as the platform scales, driving continuous improvement through operational metrics.
    • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement following mature service management practices and policies.
    • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
    • Work with internal and external partners and vendors to maintain 24x7 global operations support.
    • Follow Bio-Rad’s incident, change, and problem management processes in the delivery of all implementation and support activities. Maintain CMDB entries for cloud services.

    Qualifications

    • Experienced with running large complex global infrastructure spanning across multiple data center leveraging private & public cloud.
    • Strong understanding across cloud and infrastructure components (server, storage, data, network, and applications) to deliver end to end cloud infrastructure architectures and designs.
    • Solid coding and scripting experience.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent documentation skills and procedural development capabilities are a core requirement.
    • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
    • Technical aptitude and a passion for staying current with new and upcoming technologies to ensure the best possible solutions.
    • Proven background in disaster recovery and data protection, including data replication at remote locations and to/from public cloud providers.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education or experience.
    • 5+ years of Cloud Operations, Service automation, Cloud administration & management, Performance tuning experience.
    • 10+ years of infrastructure operations and engineering including design, implementation, and support for complex data center-based systems.
    • 3 years of experience automating infrastructure in a cloud environment.
