    Bio-Rad is looking for a Mechanical Engineer. 

    Responsibilities

    • Support equipment including liquid dispensing, pick and place equipment, CIP, lyophilization, packaging, and labeling equipment.
    • Program machine and robotic controls, including PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
    • Document program code and machine settings.
    • Identify improvement opportunities in filling and packaging areas with defined data driven rationale as part of clearly documented justification.
    • Review and challenge specifications when necessary to improve manufacturing process capability and repeatability.
    • Participate or lead pFMEA to define risk levels that may be mitigated through a range of simple applications to equipment controls.
    • Provide concepts for designing fixtures and equipment components collaboratively with vendors (designers).
    • Provide tolerance stack up analysis for new and existing product design or enhancements on equipment.
    • Interpret specifications and drawings to resolve equipment and process related issues.
    • Clearly write and revise manufacturing, set up, cleaning, and change over procedures, specifications, reports, and other related documentation to assure robust manufacturing activities.
    • Create clear and thorough justification for capital purchases and write capital authorizations for expenditures.
    • Define requirements and collaborate with Maintenance department on new or refurbished production equipment and work with suppliers of the equipment to optimize requirements for efficient production practices.
    • When assign significant projects, plan and maintain project timelines resulting in meeting expected completion dates.
    • Perform hands on troubleshooting of production equipment and packaging related issues.
    • Lead assignments on reducing packaging costs through design or process improvements.
    • Coordinate and monitor packaging projects for new and existing products.
    • Support packaging engineering projects for new and existing products.
    • Partner with product development teams (R&D) in early stages of product development to ensure designs for manufacturability, define production processes that target lower cost manufacturing, or to resolve CAPAs and NCRs.
    • Monitor, track, trend, and analyze OEE metrics identifying areas to improve equipment utilization, performance, and quality.
    • Support Procurement Team on resolving technical issues related to purchased components or assemblies.
    • Partner with product development teams to define production processes that target lowest cost manufacturing.
    • Assure processes and equipment is maintained and complies with ISO13485 and FDA Standards.
    • Perform other responsibilities as required.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
    • 8+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of and application of principles and theories of engineering.
    • Strong communication, technical, and computer skills.
    • Coordination, tact and team work.
    • Manual dexterity.
    • Solid knowledge base of machining applications.
    • Excellent problem solving skills emphasizing root cause analysis.
    • Motivated, results oriented, proactive with a sense of urgency.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Proficient in use of statistical techniques.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Tools.
    • Proficient in use of Micro Soft Project.
    • Ability to train equivalent peers or lower level engineers pertaining to manufacturing systems, equipment, or product.
    • Knowledge of SAP.
