    Position Summary

    The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for:

    • Leading, managing and planning all aspects of Singapore logistics operations including inbound/outbound logistics through sea, road and air, shipping and customs clearance, insurance related to company and logistics operations.
    • Managing contracts with logistics service providers for transportation, customs clearance for both inbound and outbound operations.
    • Ensure compliance with Bio-Rad Quality system.

     

     

    Main responsibilities

     

    Logistics - 30%

    • Lead, direct and manage all logistics planning of Singaopre inbound/outbound and operational activities related to customs/insurance and freight management with focus on the customer and Channel Partners
    • Implement effective logistics tools in supply chain operations
    • Tracking/tracing of consignments
    • Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Logistics function to meet departmental objectives
    • Ensure performance levels for delivery of products are maintained at the highest level
    • Coordinate with manufacturing divisions to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods

    Operations - 30%

    • Ensure consistency in the quality of service in accordance with service level agreements.
    • Manage efficient supply chain for both inbound and outbound logistics planning in conjunction with warehouse operations
    • Manage the interfaces with sales and marketing to manage customer expectations
    • Manage cost efficient product distribution planning operations meeting marketing/customer’s agreed requirements and expectations, and compliance with all statutory and legal policies and procedures of international trade
    • Maintain performance statistics and ensure accurate record keeping of all operational documents related to logistics
    • Manage and oversee administrative functions to ensure all paperwork is processed efficiently and in a timely manner and meets all compliance requirements in the importing and exporting country
    • Ensure that freight is moved safely and in a timely manner utilizing appropriate forecasting methods
    • Manage and understand the local customs clearances and port operations
    • Develop key relationships with local customs/shipping/port fraternity

    Inventory - 15%

    • Ensure that goods are stored within defined time parameters and in appropriate storage condition
    • Carry out cycle count and stock-takes as required
    • Ensure that Customer orders are picked and packed promptly and accurately, in proper shipping condition, within nominated time-frame
    • Ensure all consignments are picked up by the transport company at designated time

     

    Financial - 10%

    • Ensure maximization of cost effectiveness through long term contracts following service providers’ pre-qualification and tendering process for sea freight, airfreight and road transportation contracts
    • Prepare and analyze management and financial reports, budgets, expense reports and department forecasts
    • Work with the Head of Supply Chain Logistics to develop a business plan and goals for Singapore Logistics
    • Control logistics costs to include freight, shipping, warehousing
    • Negotiate prices for purchasing items

     

    People Management - 15%

    • Coach, train and mentor direct reports and provide career development opportunities through training and quality management activities
    • Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports against agreed KPIs and other tasks
    • Ensure the effective implementation of the Performance Management System for direct reports
    • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking and participation in professional organisations

     

     

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    • Degree in Science, Commerce/Business or Supply Chain/Logistics Management or equivalent experience
    • Certification in Managing Hazardous Substances is highly desired.
    • At least 5 years in logistics/supply chain management
    • Atleast 3 years in a supervisory role and proven experience in managing a team
    • Experience in managing Workplace Occupational Health & Safety.
    • Knowledge of shipping and transport
    • Hands on experience on BaaN or similar ERP system
    • Good planning and organising ability
    • Ability to remain cool and focused under pressure
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
    • Accuracy and an eye for details
    • Strong customer focus
