    Bio-Rad Laboratories is looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist.

     

    Bio-Rad’s Digital Biology Group is a multidisciplinary team developing products using our Droplet DigitalTM technology that are having a large impact in both research and healthcare. Every day, scientists and clinicians around the world use our ddPCRTM and ddSEQTM NGS sample prep systems to make new discoveries, and are revolutionizing clinical decisions with break-through liquid biopsy applications. We need an energetic and passionate Bioinformatician with a passion for building for software solutions that drive discovery through droplet based technologies.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with scientists, statisticians, engineers, marketing, and regulatory personnel to advance new products in droplet digital based technologies.
    • Design novel assay strategies and develop assay design pipelines for droplet digital based technologies such as ddPCR.
    • Support scientists and marketing for new product development, release, and sustained technology efforts.

    Qualifications

    • Relevant BSc degree required, MSc or PhD preferred (Biology, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
    • 2+ years relevant experience.
    • Experience with Python.
    • Experience using with relational databases and SQL.
    • Familiarity with genomics databases.
    • Quick learner with the ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problems.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • A team-oriented contributor that aims to enhance the effectiveness of their colleagues.
    • Highly Desirable candidates will also have:
    • Familiarity with PCR assay design tools such as Primer3 and Blast.
    • Understanding of PCR and NGS technologies.
    • Understanding of FDA, CE/IVD, CLIA, ISO, or CLSI standards.
    • A strong desire to learn skills as needed: molecular biology, statistics, thermodynamics, software development, etc.
