  • Overview

    The Technical Transfer Scientist will act as a bridge between R&D teams and operations. A successful candidate will work closely with R&D to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability with emphasis on scalability, transferability, and robustness. Activities involve identifying and mitigating risks to manufacturability by collaborating with the R&D and operations teams on raw material sourcing, QC strategies, production procedures, and SAP set up. The candidate will be expected to exhibit strong initiative, cross-functional leadership, and effective communication with project teams to meet goals of on-time product launch. 


    • Job responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
    • Actively lead and manage team activities between Pleasanton and Hercules.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ensure clear commitment and alignment between cross functional technical teams.
    • Draft, develop, and review production and QC procedures with a focus on manufacturability and specifications.
    • Effectively train operations on new products, processes, and procedures.
    • Design, execute, analyze, and report on process development activities.
    • Collaborate with operations and process development teams to complete transfer and validation builds.
    • Work on continuous improvement and sustaining activities on post launch products.
    • Provide troubleshooting support for sustaining existing products.
    • Maintain organized project resources for draft production procedures, QC processes, and materials specifications.
    • Work with R&D to identify and mitigate risks to manufacturability in early phase of the new product development process.
    • Assist the documentation support team in drafting and maintaining procedures and material specifications in SAP.


    • 3+ years of relevant industry experience in R&D, product development, or operations.
    • BSc in molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemistry. MSc preferred.
    • Experience with document control systems: drafting and maintaining revision control on procedures.
    • Experience training operators on new processes and procedures.
    • ERP experience, SAP preferred.
